Saskatchewan Provincial Nominee Program
Saskatchewan provides an immigration pathway through its Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The SINP allows the province to:
– Invite Canada PR applications from non-Canadians who wish to settle in Saskatchewan.
– Nominate successful applicants for Canada PR to the Federal Government.
Securing a nomination through the SINP is the initial step toward becoming a permanent resident of Saskatchewan. Applications approved by the SINP are subsequently processed for Canada PR by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
What are different Saskatchewan PNP immigration categories?
The Saskatchewan PNP allows the province to nominate applicants for PR visas to the Government of Canada through three major immigration categories:
- Saskatchewan International Skilled Worker Program
- Saskatchewan Experience Program
- Saskatchewan Business Immigration Program
These categories are further divided into various sub-streams to accommodate a diverse range of immigrant applicants.
International Skilled Worker Category - Saskatchewan
The International Skilled Worker Category is divided into three sub-streams:
- Sub-Category: Saskatchewan Employment Offer
- Sub-Category: Saskatchewan Occupation-In-Demand
- Sub-Category: Saskatchewan Express Entry
The Saskatchewan Express Entry and Occupation-In-Demand sub-streams operate through an Expression of Interest (EOI) system.
Saskatchewan Employment Offer
Skilled workers with a job offer for a skilled occupation in Saskatchewan can apply for immigration through this sub-stream. This sub-category is open to candidates both inside and outside of Canada, as long as they can provide evidence of legal status if currently residing in Canada.
Saskatchewan Occupation-In-Demand
Skilled workers who do not have a job offer but are highly skilled in an occupation in demand in Saskatchewan can apply through this sub-stream of the Saskatchewan PNP. The SINP publishes a list of occupations excluded from this sub-stream. Candidates, whether inside or outside of Canada, can apply to this sub-category if they can provide evidence of legal status if currently residing in Canada.
Saskatchewan Express Entry
Skilled workers who are in the federal Express Entry Pool and seek to live and work in Saskatchewan can apply through this sub-stream. Candidates, whether currently residing inside or outside Canada, must demonstrate evidence of legal status.
The requirements for the Saskatchewan Express Entry Sub-Category applicants are as follows:
- Have an Express Entry profile with a job seeker validation code and profile number.
- Score at least 60 points in the SINP points assessment grid.
- Provide valid language test results from a designated testing agency consistent with the Express Entry profile.
- Complete at least one year of apprenticeship, training, or post-secondary education equivalent to Canadian standards resulting in a degree, certificate, or diploma.
- Obtain an Educational Credential Assessment for diplomas and degrees obtained outside of Canada.
- Have a minimum of one of the following types of work experience: 1 year in a non-trades skilled profession within the past 10 years, 2 years in a skilled trade within the past 5 years, or 1 year of work experience in Canada (both non-trades and trades) within the last 3 years, in a high-skilled NOC occupation 0, B, or A not on the disqualified occupation list.
- Obtain appropriate licensure in Saskatchewan if your profession is a skilled trade or regulated, requiring certification from the Saskatchewan Trade Certification and Apprenticeship Commission.
- Develop a settlement plan and provide evidence of settlement funds.
Saskatchewan Experience Category
Skilled Worker having Existing Work Permit
Skilled workers who have been employed in Saskatchewan for at least six months and hold a valid Work Permit are eligible to apply through this sub-stream.
Semi-Skilled Agriculture Worker having Existing Work Permit
Semi-skilled agricultural workers who have been employed in Saskatchewan for at least six months and hold a valid Work Permit are eligible to apply through this sub-stream.
Health Professional
Nurses, physicians, and other health professionals who have been working in Saskatchewan for at least six months and hold a valid Provisional Work Permit can apply through this sub-stream.
Hospitality Sector Pilot Project
Foreign nationals working in Saskatchewan province for at least six months in one of the three specified occupations can apply through this sub-stream.
